On Friday, July 6, the Rugby Football League, in conjunction with the Warrington Wolves Foundation, will be hosting the Champion Schools national finals at Victoria Park, Warrington.
The national finals, which have been traditionally played in London on the Friday ahead of the Challenge Cup final, have been moved inside the academic year following feedback from schools that take part in the competition.
The Rugby Football League put the finals out to tender and, following a competitive process, the Warrington Wolves Foundation were awarded the right to host the event in 2018.
The event will see the best Boys' and Girls' School Rugby League teams from Years 7 to 10 come together to battle it out to be crowned national champions.
The Year 7 Boys national final will take place at Wembley Stadium as the curtain raiser to the Challenge Cup Final on Saturday, August 25.
Taking the event to Warrington for the first time, Ebony Giblin Rugby Football League's Education Lead said: "We are delighted to be hosting the Champion Schools national finals at Victoria Park this year.
"Working with Neil Kelly and the Warrington Wolves Foundation staff to host our marquee national schools' finals will help to create a fantastic atmosphere and support our ambition of creating lifelong memories for all players, referees, coaches, teachers and spectators involved on the day."
In addition to the Champion Schools national finals at Victoria Park, the Rugby Football League is launching its national Secondary School 9s national competition in July.
This competition is aimed at both competitive Rugby League playing schools and emerging areas, with the aim of providing an appropriate playing offer to engage more male players.
The July event will be a Year 7 Boys exhibition supported by the Rugby Football League, Rugby League Foundations and School Games Organisers.
