England Community Lions Under-19s clinched a 48 – 4 win over Wales Under-19s, in the Under-19s European Championships semi-final, securing their place in the final where they shall face France.

The game saw a hattricks once again for Captain, Curtis Teare, summarising the bold performance from Allan Coleman’s men, allowing them to dominate the game in parts.

Prior to the start of the match, the team participated in a minute’s silence, in honour of the Red Star Belgrade player who tragically lost his life in a car accident the evening before. The Lions send their condolences to all at the Club along with the player’s family and friends.

The opening score of the game occurred 8 minutes into the game, from the Lion’s Liam Kenyon, giving them a 4-point lead over Wales. This was swiftly followed by another 4 minutes later by Bradley Holroyd, taking the lead to 8 – 0.

Curtis Teare scored two within 6 minutes, to take the scoreboard to 18 – 0, with around 10 minutes left in the half. A last-minute penalty in the final minute of the half, allowed Gary McMahon to successfully take a penalty kick, leaving the half-time score as 20 – 0.

Following the interval, a ruckus between both teams occurred, resulting in Lion’s player, Brad Holroyd, being sin-binned. During the sin-bin, Lions received a number of penalties, with one successful kick occurring – taking the score to 22 – 0.

However, Wales were not out of the game yet, and went on to score in the 45th minute. This presented a score of 22 – 4.

The Lion’s responded to Wales’s late comeback attempt by scoring another 2 within 6 minutes of each other. Curits Teare (for his 3rd of the game) and Brad Holroyd (for his 2nd) took the score to 32 –4, with around 15 minutes to go.

Head Coach, Allan Coleman, said post-match “Massively proud of the lads’ performance, played against a very strong, well-structured Welsh side.

We know we can improve, we know we have to improve, but we are happy with were we are at the moment and will continue working on this over the last two days.”
