Richie Myler: We're all going for the same goal

Richie Myler: We're all going for the same goal

Richie Myler makes his first start in this test series and is relishing the chance at playing in his home city, the Leeds half-back replaces the injured Sam Tomkins.

“I’m excited, really excited. I’ve been made to wait a little bit longer, I’ve not been able to play in the first two games, but I’m over the moon to be told that I’m going to play.”

Myler has been impressed with the England squad, who are delivering some of their best performances to date in 2018 and will lift the Baskerville Shield at the end of the game.

“Everyone’s going for the same goal and we’re all going in the same direction. It’s a tight knit group of players who are all going in the same direction. They’re playing the best rugby I’ve seen them play so it’s great really.

The former Catalans man is also looking forward to appearing at Elland Road, after a season which saw Myler play there for his club side.

“I’m excited to play there, I was fortunate enough to play there against Cas so I’m sure it’ll be the same atmosphere on Sunday.

“I’m very excited about that. It’ll be like a home crowd.”

England have been a well-oiled team in the first two tests, but Myler believes he can fill the gap left by Tomkins, who misses the final test with a broken hand.

“It’s full of quality and the team knows exactly what it’s about, so it’s easy system to fit into.”

England face New Zealand in the final test at Elland Road in Leeds (November 11). Tickets start from just £20 and are available from rugby-league.com/tickets
