Keighley honour Jones with big win
James Feather scored a hat-trick as Keighley Cougars beat Coventry Bears 52-10 on an emotional afternoon at a packed Cougar Park.
It was a difficult afternoon for all involved as rugby league came together to mourn the death of 29-year-old Wales international Danny Jones.
Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes as 4,066 supporters from various clubs squeezed into the stadium to pay their respects to Jones.
Over B#10,000 was raised as the sport continues to provide support to Jones\' family, with an online benevolent fund close to hitting the B#90,000 mark.
A speech was delivered on the pitch by esteemed commentator John Helm and Jones\' wife, Lizzie, released balloons just before kick-off.
Brendan Rawlins broke the deadlock early on in the Kingstone Press League 1 contest and Keighley took a 24-10 lead into half-time courtesy of further tries from Feather, Paul March and Hamish Barnes.
Eddie Medforth scored twice for Coventry in the first half but they went scoreless after the break as the Cougars dominated, with Rikki Sheriffe, Paul White and Ollie Pursglove crossing before Feather completed his treble with a late double.
The win made it five out of five for Keighley and took them to the top of the League 1 table, a fitting tribute to the late Jones.
